Since 1998, the SNYP has been dedicated to providing summer day camp programs that provide the highest possible quality experience at the lowest possible price. Our summer program combines typical camp activities like weekly themes, swimming, daily devotions and field trips with opportunities to focus on individual interests like chess, sign language, yoga and photography. Although we do “cool off” by using some technology instruction/games, most of your child’s day will be spent outdoors learning to appreciate the beauty that Austin has to offer, as well as organic gardening, raising chickens, caring for the planet and other things that we believe are vital to keep children from developing “nature deficit disorder.” Another thing that sets us apart is that parents do not pay any extra fees for their children to participate in the enrichment opportunities made available – we don’t believe in surprising parents with extra expenses a couple of times a week as is experienced in many day camp programs. Our staff ratios are far below licensing requirements and our staff members also attend significantly higher levels of training than required, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all students. Included in our weekly fee is a free lunch provided by the Capitol Area Food Bank, and students also receive supplemental meals to take home on the weekends. We fundraise throughout the year to ensure that we can keep our fees low enough for nearly all families, and we have a limited amount of partial scholarships available for emergencies. We also work closely with Worksource and several other organizations that supplement child care costs for eligible families. Please contact Sharon Ryan for information about partial scholarships and/or assistance in applying for subsidized day care through one of these agencies.
